Cleveland Construction and Team CMS NO. 3 Win Big in Clearwater Beach, Florida

Spectacular Day For 8th Annual Super Boat National Championships

Clearwater, Fla (October 6, 2016) — The fans of the 8th Annual Bright House Super Boat National Championship were witness to Superboat Cleveland Construction earning their first, first place finish of the season with a green to checkered romp. This win comes after much effort put forth this season involving equipment misfortunes. It was also a big win for Team CMS 3 as they took the checkered flag in the Superboat Unlimited Class.
New boats, first–time boats and competitors from overseas, all competed and put on an epic show for the fans on the beach. It appeared to be record crowds on the beach and in spectator boats for a two-mile stretch, as they were all treated to three great races.
President and founder, John Carbonell was pleased with the day’s events. “We had a great turn-out of boats and a very good day of racing. We had an incident in the first race and both driver and throttleman are thankfully going to recover. There was a long line of spectator boats lining the course and the beaches were packed with thousands of people… it was great to see. Everyone involved locally in Clearwater, Frank Chivas, Briant Aungst and their entire team really did a good job promoting the race for us.”
To understand just how competitive offshore racing is; this event had 4 teams earn a first place in the 7 total classes and didn’t earn a national title. It goes to show the competitiveness of the various teams in each class of racing.
With first time 2016 winners and new teams atop the leaderboard, it was a great way to end the National Series races in Clearwater this season. Team 2nd Amendment, Cooper Standard and Cleveland Construction earned their first season wins.
The final race on the 2016 Super Boat circuit is the 36th Annual Key West World Championships coming November 6th – 13th. If you can’t make it, catch it live on superboat.com.
The 2016 Key West World Championship will be streamed live for the 4th consecutive year on Superboat.com. Fans from over 108 countries have watched and enjoyed Super Boat Racing live on race day.
